Previous studies on the performance evaluation of BI(Business incubator) have been based on more subjective oriented evaluation methodologies. This thesis utilized DEA(Data Envelope Analysis) methodology to evaluate 286 BIs in Korea. A typical statistical approach is characterized as a central tendency approach and it evaluates decision making units relative to an average producer. In contrast, DEA is an extreme point method and compares each decision making unit with only the "best" decision making units. As the earlier list of applications suggests, DEA can be a powerful tool when used wisely. A few of the characteristics that make it powerful are: Based on the DEA model and analysis, comparative efficiency ratio and major inefficiency factors of each software incubator center were pinpointed. Possible ways to improve the efficiency of each incubator were discussed and suggested. This study contributes to the methodological ways of evaluating incubator management theoretically. Practically, DEA method will help incubator managers and government official evaluate the efficiency of their management practice cooperatively.
